To achieve this objective, the Institute collaborates with academic partners, security agencies, international police organisations, and the public to:
The Institute endeavours to expand its national and international research networks by organizing joint seminars with national and international organizations and research institutes, accepting fellows and trainees, attending international symposia, academic conferences and workshops as well as sponsoring various policy-related exchange programmes.
The National Institute of Police Studies also commissions research and mobilize regional networks, to enable universities, private and public organisations and the police to collaborate successfully.
The Institute provides strategic-level personnel development for Police and security officers of Deputy Commissioners of Police or equivalent. A nine months course leading to the award of a Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) awarded by the Nigeria Police Academy Wudil, Kano in Police Strategic Studies, Police Management, Intelligence Gathering, Analysis and Management, Police Fleet Management, Leadership Studies, Police Studies, Security Studies, etc.
In addition, the Institute offers a Three Months Certificate Course in Police Studies and Security Studies for Personnel of Security Agencies.
